CLIMATE

Unlike its appearance, the sun's climate is exactly what it looks like ------ HOT! Its core can reach temperatures of up to 15 million degrees Kelvin, or 27 million degrees Fahrenheit. Its output is 3.8 x 10 to the 33rd power ergs/second (click here for the definition of an erg), or about 5 x 10 to the 23rd power horsepower. That's enough heat to energy to melt a bridge of ice, 2 miles wide and 1 mile thick, extending the entire way from Earth to the sun in ONE SECOND!!!! It is so hot and bright that if you look at it for too long, then it will cause permanent eye damage.
